Learning to Drive Part 1
When I first learned to drive, all I had for teachers were the driver's ed teachers. I still remember the banter of rules... "brake, brake, park." Ugh! I didn't go around and putt around with my dad except once when he scolded me for looking down at the gauges and turning my head to see if anything was next to me... noooo... that was wrong. Use the mirrors, he said. Well guess what, not turning your head and using the mirrors is wrong. I see it when I get cut off just about every time. I'll be in their blind spot (and I know it), see them glance at their side view and start to mosey on into my lane.
HONK!
Darn right! Get your sad #$@@& butt back over there!
Anyway, I used my other driving friends to learn about driving. Great, huh? A bunch of 17 year-olds teaching a newbie 16 year-old driving skills. I already had a good knack and feel for driving, just not the attitude. Well, I was talking to one of my friends about driving defensively as spoken by the high and mighty driver's ed teachers. He paused and said I would never get ahead by driving defensively. Since everyone else is driving defensively... who is riding aggressively? You! From that point on, I began to understand his philosophy of life and instilled a new attitude in my driving persona.
I couldn't go all the way with that advice and blended my own twist into it. You see, I am a control freak so every act I perform while driving is calculated and well executed. Anything less was disappointment and I would relenquish control and become defensive as to not endanger anyone. This happens more times than not... especially when I am tired.

the Driver
I was cooking down the highway with my mind going a million miles an hour and realized... I am a Driver.
